Highest Amperage 18650 Li-ion Battery Rechargeable Cylindrical Lithium-Ion Batteries with 30A discharge current, 3500mAh high capacity with 10A.

The CDR of 30A is the highest accurate rating among all lithium-ion 18650 batteries, and it tests to maintain a low running temperature at up to 40A CDR.

Continuous Discharge Rating (CDR) with High Rate 18650 Li-ion Battery

It’s probably essential to consider when selecting a High Rate 18650 Li-ion Battery. You need to know how much current the device you are trying to power requires before choosing your high Rate 18650 Li-ion Battery. If you select a 18650 Li-ion Battery with a current rating more minor than what you need, you will notice the High Rate 18650 Li-ion Battery overheating as it is working beyond its ability to keep up. You should also know two terms that are discussed in the high Rate 18650 Li-ion Batterycurrent ratings. Those terms are continuous discharge rating (CDR) and pulse discharge rating (Pulse).

CDR – High Rate 18650 Li-ion Battery

The maximum current of the High Rate 18650 Li-ion Battery can be discharged continuously and safely per manufacturer testing without damaging the High Rate 18650 Li-ion Battery. Pushing a High Rate 18650 Li-ion Battery to limits beyond its ability will significantly increase the risk of High Rate 18650 Li-ion Battery failure.

Pulse Rating – High Rate 18650 Li-ion Battery

The maximum current of the High Rate 18650 Li-ion Battery can discharge for a short period without damaging the Battery or reducing its capacity.

We avoid using any pulse ratings as there are far too many factors to consider when pulsing a high Rate 18650 Li-ion Battery such as a pulse length, time at rest between pulses, and high Rate 18650 Li-ion Battery temperatures to accurately compare two High Rate 18650 Li-ion batteries. For these reasons, we use the CDR rating which is the current rating at which the High Rate 18650 Li-ion Battery can be continuously discharged safely without overheating or damaging the cell.

Voltage – High Rate 18650 Li-ion Battery

When someone refers to a battery as “hitting harder”, what they are referring to is the voltage at which a High Rate 18650 Li-ion Battery can sustain midway through its cycle, commonly referred to as voltage sag. Some High Rate 18650 Li-ion Battery can remain around 3.7V midway through the cycle while other batteries will drop to 3.2V or lower when drawing power causing a sag in power.

High Rate 18650 Li-ion Battery Voltage Comparison

Operating Temperature: If your High Rate 18650 Li-ion Battery is consistently reaching a high temperature and getting hot, this is a warning sign that the 18650 Li-ion Battery is being pushed too hard. A High Rate 18650 Li-ion Battery consistently rising above 45C will undoubtedly age faster than an excellent running battery. They can also be dangerous as a high-temperature lithium-ion battery dramatically increases the potential for venting and bursting. It would help if you considered choosing a High Rate 18650 Li-ion Battery with a higher CDR rating.

Flat top and Button Top – High Rate 18650 Li-ion Battery

One final thing you want to consider is whether you need a flat-top High Rate 18650 Li-ion Battery or a button-top 18650 Battery. It refers to the positive end of the battery. A button-top High Rate 18650 Li-ion Battery has a protruding surface that increases the battery’s length and may not fit in a device that requires a flat-top battery. As the name suggests, a flat top is a flat surface that may appear too short if your device requires a button-top battery.

Caring for your 18650 Battery – High Rate 18650 Li-ion Battery

Many safety precautions should always be taken when using, handling, and storing lithium-ion batteries. Please refer to our battery safety guide for these tips. The following tips suggest getting the most life out of your 18650 Li-ion battery.

Temperature – 18650 Lithium-ion batteries will age at an accelerated rate below 0C or above 45C. If you are running your batteries hot, this will undoubtedly cause premature aging.

Discharging and Charging – To get the max life from your High Rate 18650 Li-ion Battery, we recommend keeping it within a range of 3.0V – 4.0V. This trip takes effort as most 18650 Li-ion batteries will discharge down to 2.5V before requiring a recharge and will fully charge up to 4.2V. The logic behind pushing the cell to the extremes of its capabilities; puts stress on the high-rate 18650 Li-ion battery. In testing, Li-ion batteries kept in this range will have double the life expectancy.

18650 Li-ion Battery Charger: To get the most out of your 18650 Li-ion batteries, you should always ensure your charging device automatically turns off when charging is complete. We recommended removing the High Rate 18650 Li-ion Battery from the charger once charging is completed, as many chargers have a function to continually top off the High Rate 18650 Li-ion Battery to ensure it is always at max capacity. This constant topping-off can stress the High Rate 18650 Li-ion Battery.
